Soil Profile and Succession
The soil in this biome is low quality, it doesn't help the plants living there. It also is very sandy and rocky. Temperate forest's soil is made up of six layers. The first layer is the "richest" layer because it helps plants and animals decompose. This layer is also called the "organic" layer. The second layer is the first layer that is seen, or the "topsoil". The Elvval layer is the third layer, and the Ilvvial layer is the fourth. Fifth layer consists of the subsoil layer, and the last layer is the bedrock layer. This layer is where the rocky surface is most present.
